Flow
As I work through my thoughts on God, I allow others to read and direct, hoping to develop, communally, my ever changing beliefs.
I started reading Mark. My initial intent was to focus on Jesus' interaction with people in Mark. I began to notice that excluding his disciples, people always approached Jesus. Whether to rebuke his actions or ask for healing, men and women were constantly engaging Jesus. How different is that from the way I was "taught" to witness early in my life. If a person was not actively seeking out those who need to be "saved", they weren't following God's will. I am sure somewhere in the Gospel, Jesus initiates the conversation, but with this initial read of the first part of Mark, this thought grabbed me. Jesus' life flowed. It wasn't contrived or forced. Each conversation sparked the next event, even when he preferred it not. I need to allow a little more flow, maybe. That is tough. I like structure and the rules that follow.

A great commentary on Mark is The Power of Mark's Story by Mitzi Minor. In there she makes the point that it is the Minor Characters who get what Jesus is saying and doing and are excited about it. The religious folk get what he's doing, but aren't excited about it. The disciples are plain clueless.
Thanks. I need all the reading I can get.
